Poco M2 Pro Design

Poco wants us to know the fact that the Poco M2 Pro is made in India, with labels on the front and back of the box. You will be surprised to see that the bundled charger has a ‘Mi’ logo on it and we are greeted by MIUI when we boot up the phone.

The smartphone has an attractive design and is well built, but it is very similar to the Redmi Note 9 Pro. On comparing both phones side by side, they appear to have the exact same body. Everything, including the buttons, ports, hole-punch in the display, and the rear camera are perfectly same. Poco has added a new angular striped pattern on the bottom three-quarters of the phone. The camera module has also had some changes. The M2 Pro comes with a P2i water-repellent coating, which is said to make it splash-proof.

The Poco M2 Pro is a little heavy and feels large in the hands. On the right side of the device, you will get a fingerprint sensor that is embedded in the power button and it authenticates you with a simple tap. Volume buttons were placed on the opposite side of the device, as they are a little hard to reach. You will get a SIM tray on the left that supports two Nano-SIM cards and a microSD card. The headphone jack, USB Type-C port, and speaker are placed at the bottom of the device, while on the top, we have a secondary microphone and an evergreen infrared emitter.

DISPLAY

Poco M2 Pro comes with a 6.67-inch full-HD+ LCD display, with a special cutout for the selfie camera. Gorilla Glass 5 is used on the front, back, and the rear camera module. Most of the pre-applied screen protectors are really annoying, but the one on the M2 Pro is not intrusive. The display is quite bright, colors are punchy, and the Settings app lets you tweak the color profile.

One feature that you are missing is a high refresh rate. A 120Hz panel is one of the best features of the Poco X2, but the lower-cost M2 Pro gets a standard 60Hz display.

Overall, the smartphone feels very well built and looks good in blue.M2 Pro is also available in black and green color. Talking about the box accessories, you get a silicone case, charger, cable, and SIM eject tool.

Performance

MIUI and app performance are excellent. The thanks go to the Qualcomm Snapdragon 720G SoC. Yes, it’s the same processor that was used in the Redmi Note 9 Pro and Realme 6 Pro. You will get three variants of this device. The middle variant of the Poco M2 Pro, with 6GB of LPDDR4X RAM and 64GB of UFS 2.1 storage, is priced at Rs. 14,999. There’s a lower variant also with 4GB of RAM and the same amount of storage, which costs Rs. 13,999, and a top-end variant of this device with 6GB of RAM and 128GB of storage priced at Rs. 16,999.

Navigating through MIUI’s interface was awesome, multitasking is a breeze, and apps, in general, were quick to load. Talking about the Gaming performance M2 Pro worked well. I played heavy-hitters and all ran smoothly with good graphics. You won’t notice any heating issues even after playing for long hours. You will get a Game Turbo that gives you shortcuts for screen recording, etc while playing games.

Videos looked good on the Poco M2 Pro. However, the speaker will disappoint you a little as there is a single speaker which isn’t very impressive. You can enable software enhancements for audio if you use wired headphones, but there’s nothing to boost the volume of the speaker. So you have to compromise a little here.

Battery: Long-lasting

Let’s taLK about the battery life and YES it is going to impress you. The 5,000mAh capacity easily lasted for an entire day, even with lots of gaming and other usage. If you are a light user, you can use the phone well into the second day. The phone manages more than 17 hours in the HD video loop test, which was good. Poco M2 Pro comes with a 33W fast charger which does a good job of quickly charging the battery. The battery gets 0 to 90% in an hour.

poco m2 pro

Final Words

According to me, the Poco M2 Pro is a good addition to the Rs. 15,000 smartphone lineup and I have no trouble in recommending this phone. In a lot of ways, you can take a look at Redmi Note 9 Pro with quick charging at a similar price. And of course, it is easier to buy as compared to Xiaomi’s flash sale system. The M2 Pro comes with the good build quality, a sharp display, solid battery life, and good performance. The cameras are good but you can’t say perfect.

The Realme 6 should be a solid alternative, as it is the only phone in the market with a 90Hz display under Rs. 15,000.

I hope this article is helpful for you.

DESIGN

Xiaomi has changed the design of its latest Redmi 8 series. The smartphone comes with a bigger display measuring 6.53 inches. You will geta waterdrop notch at the top of the device which holds the selfie camera. The earpiece is placed just above the display of Xiaomi Redmi Note 8 Pro. Xiaomi has used Corning Gorilla Glass 5 for the protection of this device.

Xiaomi has reduced the thickness of the bezels of the bottom by using a chip-on-film display. On the right side of the device, you will get the power and volume buttons. The power button is well-positioned while the volume rocker needs a little bit of improvement.

You will get two trays on the left side of the device: one has only a Nano-SIM slot while the other has the second Nano-SIM slot along with a dedicated microSD card slot. Xiaomi has added the MicroSD card slot, especially for the Indian market.

The backside of the phone has Corning Gorilla Glass 5 for protection which also made a good grip. The camera is placed just in the center of the device which is slightly raised. You will get the fingerprint scanner into the raised camera module.

Usually, you will see the Fingerprint Scanner recessed into the bodies but Note 8 Pro has a different story. LED flash is placed next to the camera module along with a separate macro camera positioned under it.

At the bottom of the device, the Note 8 Pro comes with a USB Type-C port, loudspeaker, and primary microphone while on the top of the device you will get the IR emitter and secondary microphone. You will get a clear plastic case in the box along with an 18W fast charger.

The Redmi Note 8 Pro comes with a big 6.53-inch display with a Full-HD+ with a screen resolution of 1080×2340 pixels and HDR support. It automatically gets bright enough when you are out of your home with a maximum brightness of 500 nits.

SOFTWARE

This phone comes with MediaTek Helio G90T SoC which is specifically designed for gaming. The processor competes with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 730G SoC. The processor used in this phone is Helio G90T which is an octa-core processor with two performance ARM Cortex-A76 cores clocked at 2.05GHz and six efficiency Cortex-A55 cores clocked at 2.0GHz. Talking about the graphics, it has an ARM Mali-G76 MC4 integrated GPU clocked at 800MHz.

To maintain temperatures on this processor, this phone comes with liquid cooling along with dual pyrolytic sheets.

Xiaomi Redmi Note 8 Pro Specifications

PRICE

You will get three variants in Redmi Note 8 Pro with the first variant comes with 6GB of RAM and 64GB of storage priced at Rs. 14,999. The second variant comes with 6GB of RAM and 128GB of storage and is priced at Rs. 15,999. The latest variant of the phone gets 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage and you have to pay Rs. 17,999.

This phone comes with UFS 2.1 storage instead of EMMC 5.1 which is common at this price segment. You can expand the storage by using a microSD card of up to 512GB.

CONNECTIVITY OPTIONS

Talking about the connectivity options on the device include Bluetooth 5, Wi-Fi 802.11ac, dual 4G VoLTE, along with a four navigation systems. Xiaomi comes with a 4,500mAh battery. According to Xiaomi, this phone has a self-cleaning speaker which plays a low-frequency tone to try to eject dust.

Xiaomi Redmi Note 8 Pro Specifications

This phone with MIUI 10 running on top of Android 9 Pie. Like other Xiaomi smartphones, the Note 8 Pro also comes with few pre-installed apps like Amazon, Facebook, WPS Office, Netflix, Dailyhunt, Gaana, and Opera Mini, etc. Xiaomi gives you some preinstalled games such as Ludo Master, Block Puzzle Guardian, Pop Shooter Blast, and Dust Settle.

Xiaomi’s trademark apps such as Mi community, Mi Pay, Mi Store, and Mi Credit are also preinstalled on the device.

OTHER FEATURES

You can switch from the traditional three-button navigation layout to swipe-based navigation. This processor supports dual-wake, Xiaomi has added both Amazon’s Alexa along with Google Assistant.

Both the Google Assistant and Alexa worked, I found at first that Alexa would take over the screen causing it to be unresponsive. You have to press the back button to use the smartphone again. An Alexa app update will fix this issue. The dual wake feature is very helpful as you can summon either assistant at any time even when the device is locked.

Xiaomi Redmi Note 8 Pro Specifications

PERFORMANCE AND BATTERY LIFE

Xiaomi Redmi Note 8 Pro becomes the first smartphone in India to come with the new MediaTek Helio G90T processor. The processor is very good and I didn’t notice any kind of lag or stutter on this device when the usage was heavy. Apps were launched quickly, and 8GB of RAM controls that you can multitask easily without killing apps in the background.

The fingerprint scanner is very quick to unlock the smartphone. You will also get Face recognition option and it needs only a glance of your finger and face to unlock the Redmi Note 8 Pro. The display gets automatically bright enough when you are out of your home, and the speaker is loud enough to enjoy the content you are watching on Youtube and Netflix.

Xiaomi Redmi Note 8 Pro Specifications

PUBG Mobiles settings defaulted to the High preset with graphics set to HD and the frame rate also set to High. The phone managed to run the game at these settings without any issues. After playing the game for 36 minutes you will notice a 12 percent battery drain. The phone will become warm at the end of the gaming session. I also raised the graphics up to HDR and frame rate to Ultra, and the smartphone could run the game at these settings with no protest. However, the device gets hot after playing for 20 minutes at high settings.

You will get a 4,500mAh battery in Redmi Note 8 Pro which went on for about 14 hours in the HD video loop test. Xiaomi gives you an 18W charger in the box which charged the big battery to 32 percent in 30 minutes and to 62 percent in an hour.

Xiaomi Redmi Note 8 Pro Specifications

CAMERAS

The Redmi Note 8 Pro comes with a quad-camera setup with primary camera is of 64-megapixel sensor with an f/1.79 aperture and 0.8-micron pixels. The second sensor is an 8-megapixel ultra-wide-angle camera with an f/2.2 aperture along with a 120-degree field of view. The third camera is of the 2-megapixel macro lens. There is also a 2-megapixel depth sensor. For selfie lovers, Xiaomi has added a 20-megapixel selfie camera.

Photos taken by the Redmi Note 8 Pro in daylight were sharp and also had good detail. HDR gets automatically enabled for bright scenes.

The wide-angle camera gives a wider field of view but lacked details.

Xiaomi Redmi Note 8 Pro Specifications

Low light photography was excellent, the AI was quick to recognize scenes and set the camera accordingly. The phone captured good shots of detail with its primary camera at night. When night mode is on, the smartphone was able to capture brighter images with slightly better details, but you have to be still and stand to take perfect shots.

Xiaomi Redmi Note 8 Pro Specifications

Close-up photos taken by the primary camera had good background separation and a natural bokeh effect.

The macro camera had good detail, but the resolution is only 2 megapixels.

You will get an option of setting the level of blur in the camera setting while taking portrait shots. The shots taken by this phone gives you a good separation between the subject and background. The colors were also accurate.

Xiaomi Redmi Note 8 Pro Specifications

Taking a selfie from the front camera gives you sharp shots during the day. Selfies taken in low light gives you slightly lower details.

Xiaomi Redmi Note 8 Pro Specifications

4K videos can be recorded at 30fps with the primary camera. You can also record videos with a selfie camera at 1080p 30fps. Videos shot during the day were stabilized. Video shots in low light had a shimmer affect in the video.

Xiaomi Redmi Note 8 Pro Specifications

CONCLUSION OF XIAOMI REDMI NOTE 8 PRO SPECIFICATIONS

Xiaomi has equipped Redmi Note 8 Pro with powerful hardware previously unseen at this price range. The MediaTek Helio G90T can easily handle your gaming needs. It surely beats the Snapdragon 712 as well as the Snapdragon 730 SoC in terms of performance, making it stand out of the competition.

Xiaomi has upgraded up the camera hardware to compete with other smartphones in this price range, mostly competing with the Realme 5 Pro and Realme XT which offer good camera performance with a similar variety of sensors at the same price segment. But I feel that Redmi Note 8 Pro could do great with camera tweaks so as to give its best.

Now, the Redmi Note 8 Pro qualifies as a suitable successor to the Redmi Note 7 Pro. Xiaomi has offered the deal by pricing it at low and undercutting the Realme XT. If you are looking for a gaming device, the Redmi Note 8 Pro is an easy pick, but you might also want to look at the Poco F1 which costs the same and offers the same configurations such as same amounts of RAM and storage now that its price has been reduced so many times.

I hope my Xiaomi Redmi Note 8 Pro Specifications and Review is helpful for you.

I will be glad to know if you have any questions regarding this Xiaomi Redmi Note 8 Pro Specifications or about anything in the comment box below.

xiaomi k20 pro Reviews And Recommendation By Tecbaba

The Redmi K20 Pro is a part of the new K series of smartphones presented by Redmi. It is the best flagship smartphone which supports a Qualcomm Snapdragon 855. This Redmi k20 pro supports a 6.39-inch AMOLED display which makes it the first Redmi smartphone with an AMOLED display. It is an FHD+ HDR panel and has very good viewing angles and proper brightness to be visible in any conditions. Let’s take a look at xiaomi k20 pro reviews and specifications.

Redmi K20 pro supports triple camera setup at the back consisting of a 48-megapixel primary sensor, 13-megapixel ultra-wide-angle sensor, and an 8-megapixel telephoto sensor. It has a 20-megapixel pop-up selfie camera. Redmi k20 pro delivers you good photos during the day. Portraits shots were very good and the phone manages edge detection well.

The Redmi K20 Pro operates on MIUI 10 on top of Android 9 Pie. The UI has useful features but is riddled with spammy notifications throughout the day. The Redmi K20 Pro is loaded with a 4,000mAh battery that delivers more than a day and a half of battery life.

Pros and Cons of xiaomi k20 pro

As you know every coin has two sides one good and one bad. The same rule applies to the Redmi K20 Pro. It also has its pros and cons. Let’s discuss some of them :

Pros

Huge Display With AMOLED Display

The Redmi k20 pro has an edge-to-edge 6.39-inch Super AMOLED screen with an 86 percent screen-to-body ratio and is so much better than what Xiaomi’s previous flagships in the country offered.
The screen has a native full HD+ resolution with a 19:5:9 aspect ratio. Being an AMOLED panel it offers infinite contrast which means the dark mode looks appealing on the phone. The user can schedule it to turn on/off or continuously keep it on.
The k20 pro screen is bright, vivid and as sharp as the best available options in the segment. Also, MIUI 10 has controls to adjust contrast and color tones under display settings.

Battery Life

Xiaomi Redmi K20 Pro takes power from a 4,000 mAh battery. With normal day-to-day usage, it lasts through a day. With more demanding use, the battery depletes fast. Overall, I am happy with the mileage we are getting from Redmi k20 pro. The device supports Quick Charge 4+ out of the box which means it can handle much faster charging.
However, Xiaomi gives only an 18W charger. There aren’t many QC 4.0 chargers available in case you wish to buy one separately. Wireless charging fans will be disappointed with Xiaomi.

Performance

Redmi k20 pro uses flagship-grade Snapdragon 855, there wasn’t really doubt as to the incredible performance of the Redmi K20 Pro. Everything whether it is standard multitasking or running heavy games like PUBG, the K20 Pro breezes through without breaking a sweat.

xiaomi k20 pro

Camera

The Redmi K20 Pro camera Conforming to modern flagship trends, it brandishes triple rear camera sensors. Out of the three, there is a 48MP (f/1.75) IMX586 primary sensor, grouped with a 13MP (f/2.4) ultra-wide one and an 8MP (f/2.4) telephoto lens. For selfie lovers, there is a 20MP selfie camera that pops up every time you need it.
The 48MP primary camera is the same one that Xiaomi employs on its Redmi Note 7 Pro.

There is no optical image stabilization (OIS) or any form of electronic stabilization for the cameras.
The Redmi K20 Pro camera captures good pictures in most conditions. It has a decent dynamic range but in harsh light, the highlights tend to blow up slightly.

xiaomi k20 pro

Cons

  • The camera of Redmi k20 pro is quite good but it struggles a bit in low light situations.
  • We also have the MIUI that has inbuilt ads going on.
  • Though the cameras allow you to shoot awesome videos due to lack of OIS, you will get shaky footage.
  • The battery is definitely good enough and also has fast charging but you only get an 18w fast charger, not the 27w one.

Conclusion

xiaomi k20 pro

Xiaomi proudly unveiled the Redmi K20 Pro in front of an eagerly waiting customers and it stunned all of Xiaomi’s ‘Mi Fans’ as well as regular phone users. Even though the debate was raging on over the price, the Redmi K20 Pro got off to a good start. The Redmi K20 Pro at that time had a stunning design and flagship-grade specifications to offer at a price that could only fetch your phones with midrange specifications. Redmi K20 Pro is the cheapest phone using the best of Qualcomm’s 2019 chip.

However, the Redmi K20 Pro impressed me a lot right. Coming from a OnePlus 7T Pro, I had some reservations about the Redmi K20 Pro, especially about its performance, the cluttered MIUI interface, and the camera performance. However, the Redmi K20 Pro has been in my pocket ever since and I refuse to part with it.

Now, as the Redmi K30 is around the corner, I decided to share my experience with the Redmi K20 Pro. At the time of writing this piece, Redmi K20 Pro is still my primary phone and I don’t see any other phone replacing it in the next few months. There are good reasons for that.

I hope my Redmi K20 Pro reviews are helpful for you.
